Aged 8 – 13 and enjoy drama? Come to the National Memorial Arboretum on the 16th August where we will be delivering a bespoke promenade Play in a Day to commemorate WWI as part of the centenary events.
Opening in 1997, the National Memorial Arboretum is a special place to honour those who have served, and continue to serve, our nation in many different ways.
|“It’s not a cemetery. It’s a place of life, represented by the 50,000 trees planted here, where older and younger generations alike can wander and wonder.”|
The young people will start warming up with drama games and activities between 9 – 9.30am and acclimatise themselves to the beautiful site.
They will spend the rest of the day rehearsing the play on various different areas of the site and then perform the play for visitors to the Arboretum and parents / carers at 4pm. Each scene of the play will take place on a different area of the site and the audience will be guided to each scene. The play performed is a 15 – 20 minute ensemble piece using inventive theatre techniques such as choral speech, stylised movement and mime.
This is a unique opportunity to join us on the very special drama day in a very special place. We look forward to seeing you there!
